Trinity Church Artist Studio Residency 2023-2024

Application Guidelines

 

Deadline for application: January 15, 2023 

Trinity Church in Asbury Park, NJ is offering a studio space for one artist for one year beginning Spring 2023. Trinity Church, a progressive Episcopal congregation, is committed to social justice including food justice, racial justice and housing justice as well as supporting LGBTQ+ communities. Trinity Church is looking for an artist whose work addresses one or more of these areas for social justice. The artist can be at any stage of their career, but will be expected to engage with the local community in Asbury Park, NJ on the Jersey Shore through public outreach events or activities. 

 

The artist, emerging or established, will be selected by International Arrivals, whose core mission is to support artists from countries in conflict or whose identities are at risk. International Arrivals will co-host an event with the artist at Trinity Church, NJ. 

 

We encourage applicants of any age, ethnicity, ancestry, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, or geopolitical background to apply.

Eligibility:

  • The residency is open to artists working in any media;

  • Selection is not dependent on faith traditions, lifestyles, sexual orientations, genders, political persuasions, races, ethnicities, ages and stages in career;

  • LGBTQ+ or BIPOC  or other individuals under-represented in the arts are encouraged to apply;

  • Artists whose proposed project engages with social justice issues are encouraged to apply. 
     

Studio Space details:

  • 20 ft x 15 ft with 8'3" ft ceilings

  • Access: 6am -10pm 

  • Adjacent slop sink

  • Natural light

 

Additional rehearsal, filming or performance space available, dependent on church and community program schedules. Also, outdoor space available for installation in conversation with the church.

 

No housing, transportation, or additional funding is provided at this time.
